 OBDSTAR DC706 adds Hyundai Kia SIM2K-240/SIM2K-241 TCUs in May 2024.

If you failed to read SIM2K-240 ECU with dc706 (image attached), voltage might be the problem.

Check your voltage. Your tool shows 11.82 volts.

Don’t use the tablet charing cable as your power supply !!!

It tells us right in the instructions of every single module not to use the tablet charging cord.

DO NOT use the power adapter they provide to power the ECU, that is only for charging the tablet.

For BENCH & BOOT (workbench) operation, please use a reliable high-power DC regulated power supply (current not less than 5A) to power the ECU. OBDSTAR’s standard power adapter (current 2A) is only used for device charging and is not recommended for ECU. power supply, otherwise communication may fail due to low power of the power adapter!

 If you forget the screen unlock password of OBDSTAR X300 Classic G3/Key Master G3, you have to reflash the firmware.

G3 uses different firmware reflash files as X300 DP Plus or other 5 inch tablets.

How to Reflash OBDSTAR X300 Classic G3 firmware?

Warning: Upgrading the firmware will clean up all the settings in the device and all the software in the DP. Users who have expired cannot download the software again through the one-click upgrade, so the software in the device needs to be backed up.

1.
Prepare a good  SD card or TF card.
Restore TF card using the SD_Firmware_tool file.

2. Insert TF card to laptop

3. Select the img reflash file

4. Click to make upgradable TF card and wait for it to be completed

5. After the card making is completed, insert the SD/TF card into the device, restart and wait for the reflashing to be completed.

 OBDSTAR released a big ECM software update in June 2024. This update adds VAG Simos 3.xx, Benz CRD3.xx, Simos 7.1, Simos 9.1, many EDC17 and other ECUs.

Compatible with OBDSTAR DC706 and X300 Classic G3 with ECU flasher license.

 There are some frequently asked questions about Xhorse VVDI MLB Tool and MLB keys.

Q: What Key is to be used?

A: Original key or VVDI dedicated MLB key.

Q: VVDI MLB tool, Will kydz mlb keys fit?

A: No, you cannot. KYDZ keys are not compatible with VVDI MLB Tool.

Q: Is It For The Newer Models like 2022 2023 , and do You Need a Dealer Key or aftermarket Keys Will Be programmed ??

A: Original key (dealer key) or VVDI MLB key.

Q: Can I use used original key or must be brand new key?

A: Should be new key if use original key.

You can use original key when:
Unlocked uninitialized with id Can generate key directly to learn key
Unlocked and uninitialized without id Allows to change the id once.
Unlocked and initialized Can restore key to unlocked and uninitialized state by calculating anti-theft data No id
Locked and initialized original key cannot be unlocked.

Q: Where to get VVDI MLB Key?

A: The VVDI MLB key is not yet released. Coming soon.

Q: wires need to be solderd to orignal key circuit board and that x2 capacitor need removing. do they just need removing or do they need refiting?

A: Must solder 2 capacitors back to the key PCB. You can solder original capacitors or new capacitors (100nF each).

Q: Is it possible to use used key from other car?

A: No, need original new key.

Q: Xhorse MLB keys possible with normal universal remotes ?

A: No possible. Only VVDI MLB key.

Q: do I need to soldering point ? Or is coming with free solder adapter

A:  Need to soldering point, it does not have solder free adapter.

Q: Does VVDI MLB Tool require token to add keys?

A: No points required when using VVDI MLB specialized key.

It does require points when adding original key. Points will be deducted:
1 When adding a key, points need to be deducted to calculate the anti-theft data
2 When recovering a key, the second-hand key is initialized and unlocked, but there is no anti-theft data for the key. The anti-theft data of the key needs to be collected and calculated before recovery.

Xhorse Multi Prog has 4 optional eeprom sop adapters:

Multi-Prog will show which adapter should be used when selecting an EEPROM chip.

For example, it tells us to use the VH24 adapter.

Remove the magnetic shield of the multiprog.

Remove 4 screws of the VH13 adapter.

Remove the VH13 adapter (comes in default).

Pull out pins so you can grab it from here and pull up.

Insert a new board (here VH24 adapter). If you don’t know the position should be in the upper left corner when you keep it like this.

The board it’s connected

Connect Power adapter and turn on device.

Select chip desired and read chip with multi prog.

The chip has been read and written successfully.

Remove the adapter board. You can do the same if need to use VH29, VH30, VH30 adapters.

Don’t forget to install the VH13 adapter back to the multi prog.

 One of our customers reported that he used Yanhua 35xx simulator for BMW 6WB 35160WT cluster, he had a red dot on cluster and mileage display 999999km after replacing eeprom.

Here is the possible solution:

BMW dashboards from August 2015 are equipped with a 35160WT/35128WT EEPROM which is not erasable and has page-id which locks this memory to its own dashboard-micro. If you need to correct such dashboards you CANNOT erase or substitute the original memory with recovered/bought one. You have to emulate the original memory with Yanhua YH35XX Programmer + Simulator. The independent programmer comes with software inside. The software can be run directly when the programmer is connected to PC.

In this case, the original chip is 35160WT, after replacing it with the small 35xx simulator, the dash shows 99999km, the 8th pin of the original 35160WT should be 5V which causes the small 35xx emulator to burn, so you will need a larger 35xx simulator chip.

If the 8th pin of the 35160WT chip is 5V, you need another simulator chip(bigger one on the right), which is compatible with both 35128WT and 35160WT. Replace eeprom with the bigger simulator should be fine.

Possible reason:

Screen cable of the machine is detached.

How to install screen cable?

If your Launch CRP919X BT, CRP919E, CRP919X series screen flashes, do the same procedure to install screen cable.

1. Remove the screws from the back cover of the scanner.
2. Remove the speaker cable and remove the back cover.
3. Clean the compressed foam and acetate tape.
4. Find the power strip and reconnect the screen cable.
5. After testing the device screen and seeing that it is normal, reassemble the device in the order of disassembly.

 Problem:

Tried to learn spare key Opel Corsa F from 2020 by Autel IM608 without success.
I did read pin code. But when tried to learn key get message try again after 2 min.
Any idea?

Solution:

It’s 4A Key. You have to enter with Peugeot.
Read pin code after adding key.
Learn key under Peugeot not under Opel.

If still fails to learn key, leave ignition on with the hazards on too for 30 mins until the hazards stop flashing then try.

Ihave a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt LT. I started researching making my own bench harness but that led me to finding the GODIAG GT100 device. It allows you to connect to any PCM/ECM outside of the vehicle. This is useful for ECM troubleshooting, diagnostics, coding and programming. I'm not sure how much I will use it but certainly useful for my current set of problems. Worked like a charm. For reference, I connected 12v power leads to pins 3,19, 20 and 73, CAN- to 43 and CAN+ to 44 on J1 and ground to pin 73 in J2 (2008 ECM). Connect scanner to OBD2 and bam, I'm able to pull codes and read information directly from the ECM. Hope it helps someone out there!

 What is the best emulator to get for BMW FEM/BDC Bosch cluster with 35128WT eeprom mileage correction?

You have 3 options for this bosch 35128wt:

1.Yanhua emulator eeprom with their new adapter and very tricky to solder good and have good results. Read/write is no problem. and put id7 filter behind cluster for BDC.

Three short VINs are located in the EEPROM. It is necessary to change them to FF.

Emulator (35128)from YANHUA only work with VDO cluster. We did program many without any results.

2.Write eeprom with DP4(bmw7/G program) and add id7 can filter behind cluster. also no problem read/write. If give you only message after successfull write and read: “Unknown eeprom” but everything was good.

You can use DP4(elpro) without emulator for Bosch 35128WT (it will say “Unknown eeprom” after but write is ok, no need ID/Data separation, just C12 clip). But you need can filter if it is BDC system. There are some good updated plugin can filters for ID7 cluster, no-black screen. So need to take out SKF stopper.

One of our customers has used this method for BMW G 7-serie 2019 and worked well.

3. CG Pro. read/write with cg pro also no problems, only check first if correct read mileage, you have 3 options for 35128wt. need id7 filter for bdc also.

CG Pro cannot read chip ID, but can read/write complete EEPROM size (0x0000h – 0x3FFFh).

CG Pro has no issues with with writing with bosch, with other then bosch we had only 1 time success writing directly. also 1 time write only to existing eeprom.
for all others, you can use yanhua emulator eeprom and solder with microscope because the solderings from the legs overlap and short sometimes.

VVdi Prog is good programer but for reset this eeprom CGprog is better.

 Problem:

2022 Volvo XC90. Successfully read immo data CEM icp with Yanhua Mini ACDP module 20.
But can’t add key through obd.
Say Unable to communicate when connected
To obd to add key. How to fix it?

Possible solution:

To add key Volvo 2022-, make sure you have license A303 activated.

1). Stared over and it worked with no issue.

2).  I had the same problem so what I did was program it under couple years before 2018-2019 it went thru fine.

3). Happen to me same thing with different model
Transfer the file to Autel IM508 and get it done.

4). Use Autel IM608 or Lonsdor K518 Pro.

On the 8hp70 dodge you have to supply external power to ignition + or OBDSTAR DC706 wont read.  TCM wants a constant power feed even when switching P004 on and off. The other power needs to switch on and off with the switch.

i have done quite a few and used the wiring diagram on the tool, no issues. That said, i started using a harness with external power and does work better/easier.
