Autel MaxiSys Ultra 2-Year's Review

27 Mars 2023 , Rédigé par JTAC

Mr. Ben and Tyler were going to compare notes on their experiences with the Autel Maxisys Ultra/MS919/MS909 platform. Maybe you're considering buying one? Maybe you already own one and hate it? Maybe you think it's the best thing since sliced bread. Let's hear it!

After nearly two years of owning mine, I'm still very happy overall. It brought all the features I needed it to, plus some features that I didn't know I wanted. But I'll be the first to tell you that it's not perfect.

Love it

- Code scan speed. There's now a strong list of manufacturers that support their Autoscan 2.0 feature that makes getting that initial code scan painless. I'll have to get a screencap up here at some point. It's FAST. From no codes to all modules scanned in seconds.

- They've also added the ability to share code reports via email or text message straight from the scanner. Super handy when sharing info with other technicians, shop management, customers, whoever.

- The wireless scope has become invaluable. Super easy to get the scope set up in the engine bay, jump behind the wheel and crank the engine or snap the throttle as needed. Much less likely to trip over cables. Way more convenient than getting another tech to stop what their doing and help. Easier to use -> More likely to get used.

- Ignoring the wireless function, the scope itself has still been a great addition to the arsenal. Again, easy to set up, quick to get squiggly lines on the screen. Enough power user functions available to keep geeks like me happy. It's not Pico-equivalent, but it'll easily do 95% of what most auto techs need a scope to do.

- Updates aren't cheap, but they're frequent and valuable. There's new model years added, sure, but the real value is in the features that get added (Autoscan 2.0, Cloud Reports, like that). Using a currently updated Ultra is far different from two years ago.

- The J2534 function has always worked well for me. No issues when using FJDS, FDRS, Techline Connect (none related to the interface, anyway), NERS, HDS. The VCMI firmware gets updates regularly, just like the scan tool itself.

Cons:

- The bus inspection tool isn't quite as game changing as I thought it would be. Maybe it's where I'm working? Or the cars I'm seeing? But there just haven't been that many times that Bus Inspection was a benefit. At best, it might have saved a trip or two to the toolbox for a breakout box. If it could measure network resistance, I might move it up to the Pro section.

- Waveform generator and actuator drive are largely the same way. Definitely cool. But I've had to go out of my way to find applications for both in the day-to-day of auto repair. Used the signal generator to test ABS wiring a few times. Used the actuator drive to run a fuel pump relay by remote once. Not saying they're stupid or useless. If you're using these features regularly, please chime in.

- Storing and retrieving scope waveforms needs work. For example, there's an easy-to-use system available for tagging your captures with the YMME and waveform specifics. But the vehicle list is missing years, models and several big manufacturers. That makes your captures difficult to search for later. You can tag a scope trace as a solenoid or a fuel pump, but there's no option for pressure transducers of any kind. And there's almost no options for exporting your captures. There's an option to upload your capture to an online library, but I can't find a single benefit in doing so.

- Surprisingly, bidirectional tests and resets. One of the big reasons I got the Ultra was to fill in the gaps in Snap-On and Launch coverage. It's done that for the most part. But I still need to reach for another scan tool at times. More often than I thought I would. For a tool company famed for its magic button pressing abilities, this is a bit frustrating.

Ugh

- Graphing scan data. It's just... Not good.  Especially if you come from Snap-On. Yes/No, On/Off, True/False PIDs can't be graphed. The scaling options always leave something to be desired. There are no cursors, so taking measurements from your data is a chore. Definitely not my first choice in scan tool when graphing data is needed.

- Reviewing your saved data isn't much better. No options for exporting your captures.

- It's big, no innuendo intended.  Spends a lot of its life in the way. Takes up a lot of space on top of your toolbox, and in the car. This VCMI holder has helped.

Had another lead short the signal and the ground circuits to each other inside the insulation.  Found that out when I stuck a fuel injector wide open inadvertently.

Program Jetta 2013 All Keys Lost with Autel IM608 in Service Mode

23 Mars 2023 , Rédigé par JTAC Publié dans #autel im608

I need to adapt a used cluster on a 2013 VW Jetta. This vehicle did not have a kessy module. Was a regular flip key ignition.

I don’t have avdi or a similar device for this job. I have an Autel IM608 and original VCDS rosstech. I was able to get original cluster into service mode using IM608 and working key and I retrieved Immo data this way. Autel goes in to cluster for immo functions. Immo iv , nec 24c64. However I cannot get the donor cluster in service mode to read immo data through obd. Will it be possible to get into service mode though eeprom and backup immo data on the used cluster with im608?

Just an update in case someone in the future needs this info. I was able to do the job from start to finish with the Autel IM608.
Like I said I read immo data from original cluster through obd without issue since I had a working key.
Next I used all keys lost via dump on the replacement cluster to see if I could get it into service mode. Followed im608 instructions:
Removed 24c64 from cluster put in xp400 programmer. It read eeprom then modified it to service dump, soldered eeprom back to the cluster, and i had service mode then it rewrote original eeprom via obd and finally It read immo data, and I cancelled all keys lost procedure after that since I had what I needed.
Then I used the cluster replacement function in im608 and it did it through obd using pin and CS from replacement and pin and CS from original.
Finally I was able to do a key learn using the original keys.

PS abs coding was lost had to use online coding for brake module to get it back. Also radio theft locked I need to find pin for the radio now.

Launch X431 V+ Porsche 718 Coding Review

22 Mars 2023 , Rédigé par JTAC Publié dans #launch x431 v

I'm pretty pleased with the Launch X431 V+ diagnostic scanner so far. Works great as a code reader (it knows I've pulled the fuse from the sound generator), and should do all the maintenance resets and other normal DIY stuff easily.

Launch X431 V+ Porsche 718 Coding Review

And the coding function appears to be fairly complete and robust. Here's the list so far:

  • A-S/S button saves last state
  • Gauge backlighting always on (white face hack)
  • Disabled seatbelt warnings
  • Remapped coolant temp gauge accuracy
  • Comfort blinkers to 4
  • Windows up/down with key fob
  • Change side markers to indicators only*
  • Activated teardrop wiper (not tested yet, don't want to spray all over the car).
  • Change/disable the auto-headlight washing after 10 washer uses
I've failed (so far) on a couple things, which means I either haven't found the true spot to change, or haven't found some other required spot (some changes need to be made in multiple locations).
  • Change spoiler deploy speed
  • Change Auto headlight sensitivity
  • Change side markers to indicators only*
*Note - I thought I'd failed on this one, but it appears to have working now, the front corner lights are now ONLY indicators, they do not illuminate with the parking or main lights. Not 100% sure what change that I made did that, so I hope I continue to like it that way as I didn't make notes of any of the settings that didn't seem to work...

Still to come:
  • Enable NAV display in MFI (need LVDS cable)
Other things I'm thinking of that I'm not yet sure if they can be done:
  • Auto parking brake engage
  • Re-map tail light function to EU/RoW config
  • Enable PDK Coasting mode while A-S/S is off
  • Don't unlock all doors when opening trunk/rear lid via fob or proximity sensors

 About the instrument lighting:

I first did the normal "white gauge face hack" to turn on the gauge backlighting. But I found a different way, too. There is a setting to add the tail lights to the DRLs. This is sometimes known as "Scandinavian DRLs" as those countries require the tail lights to be on all the time as well as the DRLs. I did this DRL change to my Audi, as it can be gray and foggy around here in winter and having the tail lights on then is desirable. So I found and tried it on the 718 this afternoon. Works fine, adds the tail lights, front side markers, parking lights, and the gauges w/needles!

This may not be for everyone, but if you don't mind having the tail lights on in the daytime, it totally takes care of the gauge illumination issue.

Front-End Electronics > Exterior lighting > DRL with marker light = Yes

Something I noticed to research further - There are some spoiler params that appear to indicate possible visual spoiler notification, either in MFI or console button light. First attempt did nothing, but I'm going to give that some more research later.

Anyway, so far, so good. Even if I don't get any of the other stuff to work, what I've done so far is great.

Can I Add Autel Universal Key to New Jaguar?

21 Mars 2023 , Rédigé par JTAC

Can I add autel ikey to Jaguar F-Pace 2017 or newer by obd? It’s safe?

Can I use Autel iKey for New Jaguar

Working experience:

1).

Just tried cloning Jaguar 2020 by iM508 + Autel smart key.

Only remote work, cannot start the car.

Autel accept only Autel key and nothing else. I have XM38 JLR key but cannot test with im508. Key is new style.

2).

Autel keys don’t work on jaguar, I already tried and it only unlocks the car but the car won’t turn on, if the alarm is active you won’t get communication on obd, so you need to add the key through kvm.

Autel is good a good choice for Jaguar.

Lonsdor released both new and old types of JLR keys (ID changeable)

OBDSTAR X300 DP Plus Insrument Activation Car List

16 Mars 2023 , Rédigé par JTAC Publié dans #obdstar x300 dp plus

Question: I see there is “Switch Activation Function” in obdstar x300 dp plus, Can you give me a list of which module can be activated?

Answer:

Instrument Cluster Activation is a bonus feature of OBDSTAR X300 DP plus/key master DP.

Switch activation function

(Today many instruments or audio of vehicles activate secondary power supply to go into power-on status by relevant module CAN communication on the vehicle, but sometimes an instrument or an audio is separated from vehicle CANBUS network, causing startup failure when it needs to be repaired by an auto technician. This function can simulate CAN communication to activate secondary power supply, so the instrument or the audio enters into power-on status. In this way, it not only can test and verify the instrument or the audio, but also save an enormous cost for an auto technician to purchase a large number of startup platforms of various vehicles and wiring harnesses!)

Muti-functional Jumper is required when performing cluster activation function.

How to Register Toyota Roomy Key by cheap Mini VCI

15 Mars 2023 , Rédigé par JTAC Publié dans #MINI VCI

I got a Toyota Roomy van with one key, the second either remained in Japan.

I’ve been planning to fix this for a long time. And I ordered a key and a mini vci Toyota techstream cable.

Mini VCI Techstream Register Toyota Roomy Key 1

Daihatsu logo key. It was cheaper and more fun.

The key must be new or blank. To register the key you need to prepare a laptop with Techstream installed, a mini VCI cable, an old key and a new key.
I registered with Techstream version 16.20.023.

Mini VCI Techstream Register Toyota Roomy Key 2

Choosing Roomy
Mini VCI Techstream Register Toyota Roomy Key 3
Select the Body module in the list of units
Mini VCI Techstream Register Toyota Roomy Key 4
Select Utility on the left
Mini VCI Techstream Register Toyota Roomy Key 5
Select Add key registration

Mini VCI Techstream Register Toyota Roomy Key 6
The program offers to open one of the car doors and turn off the car.

Then the program will ask you to bring the old key to the start button – if the central lock clicks ok, then the new key. These operations take 30 seconds. – you need to have the keys in direct access. )

Everything, the new key is registered, it remains only to cut a new physical key on a blank.

 Problem:

I need to read Volvo KVM data with Lonsdor K518ISE K-prog2 programmer. But it days run App failed. Adapter module is not bound. Any solution?

Lonsdor K-prog2 Adapter Module is Not Bound

Solution:

You have to combine kprog2 adapter with K518ISE in order to read immo data.

Follow instruction here to bind kprog 2 with k518.

How to connect or bind KProg with Lonsdor K518:

If it’s the first time to use the KProg adapter, you need to bind it with K518ISE.

Connect kprog

Go to the K518ISE home page

Choose “Settings -> Bind adapter”

And follow the direction to finish binding

You have to know:

One K518ISE host can bind up to 5 adapters

And the bound adapter can not be bound to other K518ISE hosts.

Once bound, no need to bind again.

Free Download Toyota Techstream V11 with Keygen

13 Mars 2023 , Rédigé par JTAC Publié dans #MINI VCI, #techstream

If your Toyota or Lexus car is bellow 2016 year, Techstream V11 is enough.

Here we provide mini vci techstream v11 with keygen and set up on vmware.

I stayed up all night thinking about how to make this easy on everyone so ended up coming with an idea of virtual machine.

What is a virtual machine?

A virtual machine is a computer file, typically called an image, that behaves like an actual computer. In other words, creating a computer within a computer. It runs in a window, much like any other program, giving the end user the same experience on a virtual machine as they would have on the host operating system itself.

So I found VMWARE as our software to create the virtual machine and later on that night I was able to find windows XP 32bit and tried installing xp in the vmware and turns out to work great, so with that being said I combined AGAIN all the files including vmware, winxp, techstream and its drivers as well

I installed winxp on vmware turned out very well to an extent that when I connected the mvci cable it auto installed the drivers I did not even have to manually install the drivers not sure how it happen it could have happened because at that time my winxp virtual machine had already access to the internet. And might have downloaded the drivers itself.

Below is the link of the file 1.24gb

as usual please dont forget to block vmware to access the internet using windows firewall block these two files both inbound and outbound rules
ProgramFiles(x86)\VMware\VMware Workstation\vmware.exe
ProgramFiles(x86)\VMware\VMware Workstation\vmUpdateLauncher.exe

also when winxp is installed on vmware, u can easily drag files from your host computer to winxp (all them techstream files)

https://mega.nz/#!4tkASS6L!LJWshecwOUNIB8CxQ3_M4O3E7f4BsrGSh-Boe3EIihM

file includes:

Techstream v11 (good for the cars/trucks manufactured upto 08/2016)

Techstream keygen

VMware

VMware keygen (I have extracted about 10 keys in notepad)

Windows xp sp3 iso

32bit and 64-bit drivers for MVCI cable

software for checking your cable version.

Please do check the instruction included in the download and installation will be a breeze I have also included screenshot of vmmachine to make it configured right so that usb devices are detected these pictures will make more sense of what I am trying to say

Program 2017 Volvo S60 All Keys Lost by Autel IM608

8 Mars 2023 , Rédigé par JTAC Publié dans #autel im608

2017 Volvo S60 all keys lost is done with Autel MaxiIM IM608.

Bench CEM (passenger fuse box behind the glove box) by diagram.
Bench KVM (right hand inner quarter panel in a trunk).
Used the correct with 434mhz smart key.
Followed instructions and made keys.
Door is Lishi Ford Hu101.
Only CEM for semi-smart because it does not have KVM. If smart key need both CEM and kvm for doing a Key.
It takes seconds to read data..couple min to solder..good 20-25 min to get things out..20 min to put everything back in..car has alarm tied in to auxiliary battery so its been screaming on and off for quite a bit. Main battery was disconnected..there is auxiliary battery under center cowl I didn't want to remove.
There was an option to read OBD but ive seen some people sitting for hourse to read it..way quicker to do the hard way.
Great success.

AUtel IM608 Add 2020 Toyota RAV4 Key via OBD Without Incode

6 Mars 2023 , Rédigé par JTAC

Add an OEM key to a 2020 Toyota RAV4 with Autel IM608 successfully. Same procedure as RAV4 2022 (check previous post). Go control unit – keyless, then I can select backup immo data-back up through OBD, then add a key WITHOUT 3 lines data and pay for the code. If choose add a key directly, then the programmer will spit out those 3 lines data and ask for a code.

When backing up data, the dashboard will display engine has issues, steering wheel have issues, blah, blah, blah as the backup process going, quite nerve racking but once is finished, everything is fine.

You can if it is lost all keys, there is a choice of using apb112. But my case is to add a key.

After backup immo data, then select add key, then it will ask you if you backed up data or not, then select the file, then same old Toyota beep beep beep process.

Great job Autel.
