How to use Foxwell NT520 to bleed brake on Land rover?

Question: 
It's time again to flush the brakes on my truck ('99 Discovery II). I've always done it the old fashioned way described in the RAVE and had good success, but I'd like to try another method this time.  Does anyone have instructions about bleeding the brakes with the computer or a diagnostic tool? Do you just open the bleeder screw and activate the modulator one corner at a time until new brake fluid comes out? I'll welcome any pointers. Thanks.

Answer:

The Foxwell NT510 (now NT520 Pro) does an excellent job of modular bleeding and power bleeding the ABS with step by step instructions...

Go to Special function->Braking bleeding->Modulator bleed and follow scanner prompts. 

Note: Need to register the device online, made an account, downloaded the foxwell program and updated your device with the appropriate Land Rover software. It is easy.

Reset AEC302C AEC400 CDI Reset Pinout to Xprog UPA

Manufacturer of AEC302C / AEC400 CDI controllers didn’t left possibility to access internal MCU memory by K-Line. Therefore it is really possible to reset them if you have any MOTOROLA MC68HC05E6 programmer (XPROG / XPROGm, UPA, CARPROG, ELNEC, etc.).

Make a cut around plastic casing to gain access to the printed circuit board (PCB). Don’t cut too deep – you can damage electrolytic capacitors near the edges of plastic casing! Clean the PCB from epoxy sealant. It is significantly easier to clean if sealant is heated using hot air station or other source of hot air (fan, etc.) – it becomes crumbly and comes out without excessive effort.

How to reset CDI controller to NEW

Change data at marked position from 00 to 01. This way you will change CDI controller state to NEVER PROGRAMMED. CDI controller is ready now to store new code on the first time ignition is switched to ON with a master key.

NOTE. Ignition must be switched on with valid MASTER key that belongs to immobilizer controller IMM003 / IMM006.

07/2018 MB STAR XENTRY review on Benz W204

After days of frustration, I manage to make the 03/2018 xentry simulation to work on windows 7.
Is the full version of 99GB, but in the MB star C3 is not supported, only SD Connect C4.
I have a delicated laptop for diagnostic. 
I have a vm also, but i just wanted to see xentry running on w7.

now xentry is working full on my wife car w204, c280. 
Lost a lot of my time installing xentry 03 2018 (this can be run on any laptop no more dedicated laptop) ... but is fully working also bought a new toy sd connect c4 
DAS is working on my slk + dev mod
Xentry working also on my w204.
Paid for an online session on MB servers and I check my car software on my slk I didn't touch the engine ECU as I have a remap and the transmission is up to date, no new software. 
On w204 the transmission is up to date also but I update the ecu engine, the first time when I did this and it worked.  
So now I am able to update software on different ecu's.

The advantages are simply that you don’t have to spend hours installing on old past their prime laptops with dodgy batteries liable to die while your flashing something on your car. Also i have included Mongoose toolkit in the VM that will auto flash the correct firmware into your cable for the version of SDD your using.
 
These can be ran on any system that can also run Oracle’s Virtualbox. That includes Windows, OSX and Linux machines. You don’t need a particular beefy laptop either.
 
  1. How to install

    a. Install your version of Virtual-box. Virtual-box for Windows PC or OSX for Apple Mac
    b. Go to file and Import Appliance and select one of the two images you downloaded
    c. Sit back, maybe put the kettle on.
    d. You can now if you want, right click on the image and create a clone. So you have a backup.
    e. Double click the file that now appears called WinXPJLR 130 or WinXPJLR 138 (which ever one you used). It should now load up windows XP in a window2. How to use JLR SDD in a VMware
     
    a. You should now have a window running XP. If you are using Version 130. A black window will appear. That is the auto script to set the date and time to 01/08/2012 each time you start it. It needs that date for the password and account to work. Just click in the black box and press a key.
    b. Any windows boxes that pop up to search for hardware. Just cancel. Its looking for the drivers of hardware you don’t have. Ignore.
    c. Plug your mongoose into the car and the other end into the laptop. Turn the ignition of your car to position 2. Go to devices on the top of the image, USB and select the mongoose. Should be Drews!
    d. Now one of two things will happen. It will automatically detect the mongoose and update the firmware on the device or not. If not then double click on the icon for Mongoose JLR Configuration.
    You should see your mongoose in the white panel in the configuration menu. Select it and flash firmware.
    (It will send the right firmware to be compatible with the version of SDD you are using. If you use a different version of SDD. It will flash whatever one you need)
    e. Now if you want to you can change the resolution of the virtual XP just like normal windows. I have set it at a low 800×600 so it is compatible on everyone’s screen resolution. So right click on the window and adjust to your own laptops specifications. If you press RIGHT CONTROL BUTTON and C for scaled mode or RIGHT CONTROL BUTTON and F for full screen mode.
    d. Now double click on JLR SDD. It should now load up Internet explorer (yes it is browser based!!). If it fails to load, close the browser and stop the application. Double click again Jaguar SDD, and it will load.
    f. If you are confronted with the password screen only with Version 130. Which sometimes happens? It is below
    (Also there is a password.txt on the VM images desktop with it)

    Then press identify
    g. You should be now confronted with the vehicle identification number (VIN) screen. If read is greyed out. Then your mongoose is not talking to the car.
    Is it plugged into the car and laptop?
    Is the car ignition in position 2?
    Did the mongoose configuration tool flash the firmware?
    Did you activate USB in the image?
    If you followed all my steps to the vehicle identification number (VIN) screen. The read option should be coloured. Select it and it will retrieve your VIN, and then you’re on your own adventurer!
    Good to know: it’s risky!!!
 
For sake of security, tested SDD is your way to go.

How to save OBDSTAR OBD Tools Log Data

What's the advantages of OBDSTAR data logging?
You can send the log data to OBDSTAR engineer if somthing is wrong with your device.

Here's the guide to save data of OBDSTAR hand-held devices (H-series tools, F-series tools, X100 Pro, X300M etc).

How to save data:
When it fails to communicate or program, please operate as below;
1. Connecting the device - Starting it-Pressing option-Pressing Data Logging-Pressing on-Pressing ESC - Back to the main menu.
2. Keep the device at “on” state, go to test the car, when it fails to do the program. power off the machine please.
3.Pull out the TF card where there is a LOG file.
4. Send us the LOG file and the engineer would analyse the data and figure out the reason.
Note: Every time when you power off the machine, Data Logging would be "OFF

I did for testing 2 types of programming _ have got EZS with both programmed keys because customer claimed somethimes EIS works sometimes doesn't - I have found that connector for immo aerial was desoldered from PCB so when I fixed it - EIS became fully working again - and then I started testing CGDI and made 2 types of programming (all programming on bench - EZS + GATEWAY EMULATOR)
1) programming in case one key is available and adding spare key - ALL OK!
2) programming in case of ALL KEYS LOST - ALL OK!

spare key programming was pretty fast
AKL scenario takes circa 80minutes to get data from EIS and You have to plug in and out emulator key every 5 seconds - I have bought VVDI POWER ADAPTER to pass all hassle on to adapter so You don't have to watch whole process and move key in and out manually - but it doesn't work with CGDI - seems adapter works only with VVDI MB and software drives it by adressed pin to switch connection off and on between ezs and key emulator - maybe CGDI TEAM could write a code to their SW and make VVDI POWER ADAPTER useful for all their customers.

works perfect with Nissan consult III Plus software, already tested with many Nissan cars.
This requires windows 7 64-bit on the laptop to work with the consult III plus software
it worked perfect to reprogram my infiniti, also tested on other nissans.
 
 
2. coding perfectly with BMW x3
I have in my workshop a 2016 BMW X3 xDrive35i
MPG: 19 city, 26 hwy.
3.0 L, 6 cyl, Automatic (S8), Turbo: 19 city / 26 hwy with coding problems, I used the software ucandas, delphi, injectoclean, otc, the bmw software that I have has coverage until 2010.
JDiag Elite II Pro can help me with coding.

Full version is able to work with multi-brands, but Porsche only edition is work with Porsche cars, not able to work with other cars.

How to program Chrysler PCM with DRB III Emulator

After reading this, it is obvious that PCMs can be reprogrammed.

I have flash DVD for the DRB III, hopefully I will get it and can then do programming on a “swap” system. Keeping my fingers crossed.
It is Chrysler’s new “policy”

Mopar® is currently phasing out pre-programmed PCMs for the vehicles listed. New
modules will no longer be pre-programmed when received from Mopar®. Replacement of
future PCMs will require programming utilizing the DRBIII and TechCONNECT. The PCM
will not operate the engine until it is programmed. A Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) will be
set – “not programmed”.

CAUTION: Extreme care must be taken when programming a calibration into a
generic PCM. Do not randomly select a calibration. Once a calibration is
selected and programmed, the controller cannot be reprogrammed to a
different calibration. The module can only be reprogrammed to a more
recent version of that calibration.

When flashing a 2002 – 2004 LH vehicle the BCM may need to be
disconnected if experiencing failures during the flash of the transmission
portion of the PCM. The BCM will need to be disconnected after the module
ID portion of the flash is complete. Before pressing Page Forward to begin
the flash of the PCM Turn the Key to the OFF position and disconnect the
BCM. Then turn the KEY to the RUN position and Press Page Forward to
begin the PCM flash session.

NOTE: If this flash process is interrupted/aborted, the flash should be restarted and
then follow the directions on the DRBIII emulator.

Step 1. Before beginning the reprogramming procedure, remove any old flash reprogramming
files from the DRBIII memory. To clear the memory from the MAIN MENU power up
the DRBIII and then:
a. Simultaneously press the “MORE” and “YES” keys.
b. A screen will appear requesting a “COLD BOOT”.
c. Follow the on screen instructions by selecting the “F4” key.
d. When the DRB III® reboots to the MAIN MENU, proceed to Step 2.
NOTE: If your vehicle is a 2002 LH and the original PCM part number begins with 04
the technician should use the 2002 LH Part Number Reference chart above to
determine the corresponding “NEW” part number. This new number from the
chart should then be entered into the Tech tools application as the orginal
part number. If the original PCM number begins with 05 no change to the
flash selection process is required.

Step 2. With the ignition switch in the “RUN” position, determine the original part number of the
PCM currently in the vehicle. Using the DRBIII select:
a. “DRBIII Standalone”
b. “1998 – 2004 Diagnostics”
c. “All (Except Below)”
d. “Engine”
e. “Module Display”
f. Record the first ten (10) characters of the “PCM part #” on the repair order for later
reference.
NOTE: If the PCM is not operational, the part number can be obtained from the label
on the old controller. If the label on the controller is not legible, proceed to
next step.

Step 3. Page back to the “Main Menu”

Step 4. Determine if the vehicle is equipped with SKIM. Using the DRB3 select:
a. “DRBIII Standalone”
b. “1998 – 2004 Diagnostics”
c. “All”
d. “System Monitor”
e. “J1850 Module Scan”
f. Look for “SKIM” in the list of modules.

Step 5. If the vehicle is not equipped with SKIM then proceed to step 6. If the vehicle is
equipped with SKIM obtain the vehicle Personal Identification Number (PIN) before
continuing with step 6. This information is available from one of the following:
a. The original selling invoice.
b. The DealerCONNECT system under the “Sales” or “Parts” tabs – select “Key
Codes”.
c. By contacting the DaimlerChrysler Customer Assistance Center (DCCAC) at
1-800-992-1997.
CAUTION: Failure to install the SKIM pin number into the module after flashing the
PCM will cause a start and stall condition.

Step 6. Replace the PCM using the appropriate generic control module. Refer to the service
information available in TechCONNECT or the appropriate service manual in Section
8E, Electronic Control Modules, Powertrain Control Module, Removal/Installation.

Step 7. Open the hood, install a battery charger and verify battery state is above 11.5 volts.

Step 8. If the old “PCM part #” is known, proceed to step 14. If the old “PCM part #” is not
known, proceed to next step.

Step 9. On DealerCONNECT select the “Service” tab.

Step 10. Select “Vehicle Information Plus”.

Step 11. Manually enter the VIN and mileage and select “Enter”.

Step 12. Select the “Vehicle Option” tab.

Step 13. Under the “Vehicle Option” window, identify and record:
a. Engine.
b. Emissions (Federal or California).
c. Transmission (Automatic, 5-speed manual, etc.).

Step 14. Connect the DRBIII to TechCONNECT and the vehicle. Open TechTOOLS and
verify that the “DRBIII Status: Connected” message is in the upper right corner of the
TechTOOLS screen.

Step 15. TechTOOLS should automatically populate the VIN in the “Vehicle Criteria” area and
the available updates. If not, manually enter the VIN then TechTOOLS will populate
the available updates.
NOTE: Do NOT enter the generic controller part number in step 16a below.

Step 16. Determine the proper calibration:
a. If the old “PCM part #” is known, enter the part number of the old controller in the
“Parts Criteria” p/n window. Proceed to step 16.
b. If the old “PCM part #” is not known, select the correct calibration based on the
information that was recorded from “Vehicle Options” in step 13.

Step 17. Select the correct calibration.

Step 18. Select the “Download/Update” button.

Step 19. Monitor the “Flash Download/Update Progress” window on the TechCONNECT and
follow the instructions on TechCONNECT/DRBIII. When the flash process is
completed, proceed to next step.

Step 20. Enter the VIN in the PCM. Using the DRBIII select:
a. “DRBIII Standalone”
b. “1998 – 2004 Diagnostics”
c. “All”
d. ”Engine”
e. “Miscellaneous”
f. “Check VIN”
g. If the vehicle is not equipped with SKIM proceed to step 20h. If the vehicle is
equipped with SKIM follow the directions on the DRBIII. When the VIN and SKIM
key has been programmed, proceed to step 20.
h. Enter the VIN as requested by the DRBIII.

Step 21. Update the PCM mileage. Using the DRBIII select:
a. “DRBIII Standalone”
b. “1998 – 2004 Diagnostics”
c. “All (Except Below)”
d. “Engine”
e. “Miscellaneous”
f. “Check PCM Odometer”
g. “NO”
h. Enter the current odometer mileage and then press “Enter”.

i. Cycle the ignition key to the OFF position and back to the ON position and then
press “Enter”.

Step 22. Proceed as follows:
a. If the vehicle is equipped with an automatic transmission, proceed to step 24.
b. If the vehicle is equipped with a non-turbo engine and manual transmission, it is not
necessary to set the pinion factor. Proceed to step 24.
c. If the vehicle is equipped with a Turbo engine and manual transmission, proceed to
step 23.

Step 23. On vehicles equipped with a Turbo engine and manual transmission, set the Pinion
Factor. Using the DRB III select:
a. “DRBIII Standalone”
b. “1998 – 2004 Diagnostics”
c. “All (Except Below)”
d. “Engine”
e. “Miscellaneous”
f. “Pinion Factor”
g. Select the correct tire size and then select “Page Back” to exit.
h. Proceed to step 24.

Step 24. On vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission, set the Pinion Factor. Using the
DRBIII select:
a. “DRBIII Standalone”
b. “1998 – 2004 Diagnostics”
c. “All (Except Below)”
d. “Transmission”
e. “Transmission Module”
f. “Miscellaneous”
g. “Pinion Factor”
h. Select the correct tire size and then select “Page Back” to exit.
i. Enter “Quick Learn” and then follow the instructions on the DRBIII.
NOTE: Due to the PCM programming procedure, a DTC may be set in other modules
(TCM, BCM, MIC, SKIM, etc.) within the vehicle, if so equipped. Some DTC’s
may cause the MIL to illuminate. Check all modules using “Module Scan”,
record the DTC’s, and erase these DTC’s prior to returning the vehicle to the
customer. Erase any DTC’s in the PCM only after all other modules have had
their DTC’s erased.
NOTE: The following step is required by law.

Step 25. Type the necessary information on the “Authorized Modification Label” p/n
04275086AB and attach near the VECI label (Fig. 1).
