Open TechTOOLS
Search by VIN or YME
Select the “DRB III Emulator” checkbox
Select the desired flash
Select “Download / Update”

When the download completes, close the download prompt
On the same computer, launch the Enhanced DRB III Emulator from the wiTECH 17.04.27application

In DRB III Emulator, Select “7. Vehicle Flash”

Select “Flash Powertrain” or “Flash Non-Powertrain”
Select “Start”

Address the prompts to progress through the flash process
When the flash completes, close the complete prompt.
Clear DTCs

If you encounter any error when trying to do a power train flash to a DRBIII vehicle with the DRBIII emulator, delete all files from the Low Folder.

(Some computers might have the folders hidden. To Show hidden files and folders, please follow the steps below)

RESOLUTION

Step 1: Navigate to the following folder:

C:\Users\<User_Account_Name>\AppData\Local\Temp\Low

Step 2: Delete all files in the Low Folder

Step 3: Then launch TechTOOLS and download the flash for the vehicle again

Step 4: Launch the DRBIII Emulator and try the flash again and it should work.

To use new MB Star SD Connect C4 DoIP diagnostic scanner, you need to configure it first. Follow steps below to configure SD Connect C4 DoIP multiplexer:

1. Go to local network connection

2. Press Properties

3. Choose Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4), press OK to continue

4. Enter IP address

IP address: 172.29.127.24

Subnet mask: 255.255.0.0

5. Click on Advanced

6. Click on Add to configure DoIP IP address

7. Set DoIP IP address to 169.254.0.** (i.e 169.254.0.45)

8. Click on OK to finish configuration.

The new SD connect C4 DoIP (1:1 clone of the original) is able to work for DoIP.
It’s the only C4 that supports ethernet communication (DoIP).

Yes. But there might be a compatibility issue of the programmer and emulator. You can try it at your own risk. Pro advise you to use a VVDI MB Tool

Diagspeed announced the dates of FBS4 solution. But not confirmed yet. The Diagspeed has the reputation of being the best in the Mercedes world to make keys, Reset ECU’s and trouble shoot problems that a normal scan tool can not. It is worth to take a gamble.

Can you provide some list of the supported Mercedes models and diagnostic protocols? Are there any restrictions on trucks, buses etc.?

Here is a test report of Mercedes W220 W168 W163 diagnostic test. Done with Allscanner VXDIAG C6 and SD connect C4 china clone.

Pre-test conditions:
VXDIAG C6 Benz DoIP

VX Manager version: 1.6.0.0625

Firmware versions: VCI - 1.6.1.0 / DoIP - 1.5.6

MBSTAR software version: 03.2019

Connection to laptop: LAN cable

SDconnect C4 China clone MBSTAR software version: 03.2019 Connection to laptop: LAN cable

Test results on real cars:
Car 1: W220 S320 gasoline 2001 VIN: WDB2201651A115564
VXDIAG C6 DoIP Benz – car have 29 control modules but C6 finds only 9 of them!

SDconnect C4 – all 29 control modules are found and accessible.

Car 2: W168 A160 gasoline 2001 VIN: WDB1680331J439808
VXDIAG Benz C6 – finds VIN number automatically but 1 control module is not recognized - TAC (Automatic temperature control). We can’t enter control modules because it seems like the HHTWIN is not supported.

SDconnect C4 – finds VIN automatically and recognizes all control modules.

Car 3: W163 ML270CDI diesel 2002 VIN: WDC1631131A405201
VXDIAG C6 DoIP Benz cannot detect the VIN number automatically. Some control modules are not recognized. MB SD C4 finds VIN number automatically and recognizes all control modules.

We have tested newer cars too. Just one example:

ML164 320CDI 2006 VIN: WDC1641221A094001 - VXDIAG C6 finds and test all control modules and operates the same as SDconnect C4!

Problem is that not all car control modules are recognized and accessible on older cars like W220, W168, W163.

In sum, VXDIAG Benz C6 maybe works well for new Mercedes but SD connect C4 can work no problem for new and old cars.

How to Correct BMW E91 CAS3+ Odometer with VVDI PROG and FVDI 2018

How-to: correct odometer on a CAS3+ BMW E91 with FVDI 2018 commander by dump.

Vehicle model: E91

IMMO: CAS3+

Chip: 0L15Y

Cluster type: Siemens VDO

Main steps:

Step 1: Read dump

Step 2: Write KM

Step 3: Flash new file to IMMO

Step 1: Read CAS3+ Dump with Xhorse VVDI Prog

In VVDIProg software, select BMW CAS3+ 0L15Y

Make connection following the wiring diagram

Read and save CAS3+ dump

Step 2: Change KM with FVDI 2018

Connect 2018 FVDI commander with laptop

Open software and select VVDI2 function (FVDI 2018 comes with free VVDI2 VAG/BMW function)

Select BMW V1.2.2->Special Function->File change KM->Select type: CAS3+ (0L15Y, 0M23S)->Load EEPROM dump file

Upload dump file read by vvdi-prog

Load file success. Check the old KM

Manually enter new KM you desired and press Change KM

Save new EEPROM dump file

Change KM in immobilizer success.

Step 3: Flash the new file into IMMO ECU

You must change KM in instrument dashboard manually before connect IMMO ECU to car.

Go back to VVDI Prog, write immo with the new dump file into IMMO.

Reinstall IMMO box and back to vehicle.

Check the new KM changed.

Review: Honda HDS HIM

Honda HDS (Honda & Acura Diagnostic System) is the latest diagnostic software for Honda vehicles. Diagnostic functions available for vehicles of HONDA/ACURA from year 1992 to 2007. Test coverage: Dynamical, Body, Chassis, ABS, SRS, Anti-theft, etc. HDS supports CAN BUS system, and it can re-program the Auto ECU.

HIM is the host with double board (see picture below).

So Honda HDS is the copied software load on a third-party HIM firmware. You need an RS-232 port on your computer. If your computer doesn’t natively have one, you’ll need a USB->RS-232 adapter. Software updates frequently.

I have successfully used the TPMS features, CKP relearn, idle relearn, ECU reset, and cleared DTS faults. I believe this thing can data log, reprogram gauge clusters, and reprogram the immobilizer for new keys, but have not tried these things yet.

Good seller, fast shipping, and I haven’t tried it until yesterday.

I install the software following the video, but somehow I can’t get the unit to connect.

I do notice that when I plug in my USB to Serial adapter that came included with this unit, the laptop told me fail to install driver… so after doing deduction, I finally realize the problem is the USB to Serial Adapter.

I tried to install the driver that came with the USB to Serial Adapter, but the software have error, could not even start installing it.

I look at the website and try to download from the manufacturer, but each time I click download, it is block by the host/manufacturer website…

what the…

so I think,… hmmm there must be only handful of chip manufacturer for this device so I RANDOMLY download several USB to Serial adapter from internet and finally by trial and error (luckily I am right on the second download), I got the serial driver to work!

Ok.. so I test again and I still fail to connect,

so I look at the best source for Honda Fit which is… FITFREAK hahaha…

and got into this thread and realize that Jibberjabbs point out, I need to set to

COM1

Yes, that is the key COM1,…

and I just finished using this HIM for Learning the Throttle Position again after installing the MaxBore Larger Throttle Body !!!

Review: very powerful; you can everything the dealer can

So I have had a lot of question on my HDS clone setup lately so I thought I would do a bit of a review. HDS is a general term for Honda’s Diagnostic System. HIM is the specific tool (Honda Interface Module). Honda has had several tools, the HIM is two or three generations old, but the newer ones are not cloned yet (GNA600 & MVCI).
So if you don’t know there are all kinds of clones of Honda’s HDS HIM diagnostic system out there on the internet. I made a leap of faith and picked one up online, sent from China about two years ago to reprogram my TPMS sensors (I hate you Honda for this TPMS crap system). I was hesitant because it did not state that it supported my 2011 Fit. The cracked HDS software version that came with it did not cover my car, but I was able to find a newer version (V2.024.05) on the internet that worked. I have successfully used the TPMS features, CKP relearn, idle relearn, ECU reset, and cleared DTS faults. I belive this thing can data log, reprogram gauge clusters, and reprogram the immobilizer for new keys, but have not tried these things yet.

It came with various connectors for self-verification testing too.

So the HDS only has a RS232 DB9 serial port (no usb),and most laptops don’t have them anymore. The adaptor will plug into your laptops usb and replicate a RS232 port. You will probably need a RS232 to USB adaptor too. I have always had good luck with FTDI adapters. Future Technology Devices Intl – UC232R-10 The HDS will only connect to com port 1. So you may have to change your com port assigned number when you use a usb adapter. I have only used the HDS on a windows XP laptop so I cannot confirm this works on newer Windows.

Here is another possible option I have not tried yet, but would love to because it is much cheaper and uses USB! Looks like it uses the same HDS software!

And if you are going to do TPMS you might want to look at triggering tools, if not you have to deflate and re-inflate a wheel to trigger the sensor. Our TPMS sensors only only transmit when they are spinning over ~26MPH, detect a rapid pressure change, or are triggered with a 125Mhz signal.

Overall this is a very powerful tool that lets you do about everything the dealer can!

The factory service manual pretty much explains how to use the HDS in all of Honda’s trouble shooting procedures. All of the things I have used have matched up, like TPMS and CKP relearn.

Here are a few more things it claims to do:

1. Probably the safest, easiest and fastest programmer on the market. Absolutely no components to remove no pins to lift.

Programmer works OFFLINE, only diagrams based on servers.

2. This wonderful new device will allow you to read CAS2 , CAS3, CAS3+, CAS4 and CAS4+. CAS4 all that i tested – 100% safe and fast. Reading the microprocessors are absolutely safe and decrypting time is done within seconds. It can also read E series FRM modules and repair them by the press of a single button. You can read , save , edit and write easily.

3. The hextag seems to be a good product. read bcm porsche with mask XDP512_1L15Y, XEP100_1N35H, XEP100_5M48H, XET512_2M25J.

4.Done about 30 FRM repairs, read and write cas4+ without desoldering. Reset f series and e series keys. Read kvm for Range Rover sport and porch bcm. This tool work like a charm . They never disappoint

5. Hextag. read/write CAS1-CAS4 in seconds.
All of them already tested.

6. Two FRM3 done today. Both from e90.

7. Hextag is the latest BDM tool which can do a wide range of operations in multi car bands including BMW and many more.

8. I went through almost all CAS programmers and I can easily say HexTag is very good.
I have done couple CAS4 with it without any errors.
I like the speed and built in calculator which make life easier. FRM 3 is doing in few seconds.
Also tested on Mercedes W211 EIS and all went well.

As Im very optimistic with it I would like to make this my main programmer not only for BMW.
