Lonsdor LT20 vs Lonsdor LT02 PH0440B Smart key

 What is the major difference from the Lonsdor FT02 PH0440B 8A+4D and LT20 8A+4D prox boards? When I read both specifications, they seem the same.

FT08-PH0440 is a Lonsdor’s copy key that you can use their Toyota AKL software and copy a key from the existing keys in the system by sniffing through the push start button. You can also clone over it from an existing working key but remote RKE function will not work on both keys at same time.

LT-20 boards are their new boards that you can use as an emulator to turn ignition on also you can precode it with proper P4 value and frequency to make a programmable key to the car. So you program it as if you were programming a normal key.

OTOFIX D1 Lite vs Mucar V07S for Mercedes W212

 Our findings so far in brief:

  • Otofix is ​​an attractively priced subsidiary of Autel. Otofix devices run proven Autel software.
  • The OTOFIX D1 Lite is the "entry-level model" of the Otofix testers (although that's almost an understatement) and is priced under $450.
  • The Otofix D1 Lite can perform actuator diagnostics (function was added via update)
  • The Otofix D1 Lite doesn't support coding! (This only works with the D1 and higher models .) So, for my case, I can currently only compare the error diagnostics, actuator tests, and "Special Functions."
  • 2 years of updates are included
  • After 2 years, a 1-year update currently costs approximately 142 USD (+ exchange rate / PayPal or credit card fees) and can be booked and paid directly via the device.
  • My D1 Lite also has 42 service functions. The range of "Special Functions" seems to be larger (at least with Mercedes, where I've been able to test them so far) than with competitors (e.g., Topdon ArtiDiag 800BT / 900 Lite / Pro, Thinkcar Thinkscan MAX (2), Mucar VO7 (S), or Launch CRP919E/X). Otofix and Autel seem to have a completely independent database here, unlike the aforementioned devices (their "Vehicle Coverage" lists are also largely identical in direct comparison; Otofix and Autel have their own "Vehicle Coverage" lists).
  • The D1 Lite displays freeze frame data for many errors. For example, the Mucar VO7S (which I can directly compare with) often lacks freeze frame data.

OTOFIX D1 Lite Mercedes W212 Review 1

I had the D1 Lite attached to a Mercedes E-Class W212 for a long time today.

I found the following worth mentioning:

  • The diagnostic software on the Otofix D1 Lite is an app on an Android system (sure, that's almost always the case). However, with this device, you can simply close the app and then access the native Android system running in the background. It sounds simple, but it doesn't work on my Mucar VO7S, for example, and that can be quite annoying because it means you don't have access to the device's "original" settings, for example, but only to those that the manufacturer of the diagnostic app has implemented in its interface.
  • Reading the VIN is really fast. My Mucar VO7S sometimes takes 15-20 seconds to read the VIN. The D1 Lite does it in just under 5 seconds and has already read the engine and transmission numbers at the same time. Sometimes, however, the VCI doesn't automatically connect via Bluetooth (perhaps always if it was previously connected via cable...?), in which case you have to briefly go into the VCI management app to initiate the connection process. Afterward, however, it connects immediately.
  • As I've mentioned before, Mercedes' diagnostics work amazingly reliably. I read out several errors in different control units. All errors were correctly classified (current/stored), displayed in perfectly understandable German, and freeze-frame data was displayed for each error (a snowflake next to the error entry). I've had completely different experiences.
  • The measured values ​​in the live data are updated surprisingly quickly. It feels like at least 4-5 times per second, maybe even more often. This makes it very easy to work with.
  • The German translation is well done and consistent. I didn't find a single menu today that was in English or translated into incomprehensible German.
  • I've downloaded and installed all available brands and still have about 17 GB of free storage. While that's not a huge amount, it's fine for now. I hope, of course, that future brand programs won't become significantly more extensive/larger.

Comparison of features:
D1 Lite corresponds to MX808BT.

D1 Pro corresponds to MS906 PRO.
TPMS functions are available, but only those that work via OBD. This includes manually entering, deleting, and changing IDs, activating relearn, etc.
Activating, reading, and programming via radio, as is possible with Autel's TS devices, is not possible.

OTOFIX D1 Lite Review on VW Golf5 BMW F30 and Benz W177

I am extremely impressed with the Otofix D1 Lite.

Today I tested the device on a VW Golf 5, BMW F30, and Mercedes Benz A200 W177.

After trying it out a bit, I was amazed at all the things I could do with it.

Today I changed the tandem pump and the fuel filter on a Golf 5 1.9 TDI.

After replacing the parts, you have to bleed the system.

It was done in no time. The car started immediately without a sound. It has also been bled.


The D1 Lite is primarily a diagnostic and repair tool, but it can also perform minor coding.
Minor coding changes are definitely possible.
Possible coding changes are usually those that have to be entered manually
(coding codes), as usual with VCDS .
Or:
So far, I've coded the door electronics on the Golf because there was a constant error from the rear doors. (Door lighting)
It was probably because a different gateway was installed, more specifically from a Golf 6 with door lights.
(According to the name on the gateway.)
I was able to change the door electronics coding to "Not coded," which then cleared up this error.
Of course, something that isn't coded can't generate an error.

Unfortunately, it was a bit harder to find where to control it; I would have liked it to be easier.

On the BMW F30, the injectors had to be replaced and also re-programmed; I have not seen an easier way to do it. This was probably due to the outdated software I was using up to now.

On the Mercedes Benz A200, I was able to bleed the brakes and reset the parking brake perfectly.

I am very impressed.

For hobby mechanics or for people with a small workshop it's more than enough.

Positive:

The price - I bought it from obdii365.com for $315.

I don't see the functionality offered by other manufacturers that are more expensive.

Updates are not as expensive as other manufacturers .

Small and handy.

The German translation is relatively understandable, which is something I've seen differently with other manufacturers.

You can access all the control units (ES) that the vehicle has.

Errors are well described .

Error analysis is carried out using live diagnostics and diagrams of actual and target values.

It describes when a component is defective and up to what value it is still OK (DPF ash quantity).

The diagnosis and the programming are quite quick.

The connection to the car is very stable; I was about 10m from the car

. The battery lasts a long time and lasted me the whole day.

Feels like a normal tablet in the hand. Doesn't feel cheap .

Negative:

No stand or holder.

As already mentioned, "only" 2GB of RAM. (Since it's a diagnostic device, irrelevant to me - you don't really need to surf the internet with it.)

You have to figure out the functions yourself; the descriptions for the functional areas are somewhat indirect.

VCI connection takes 10-20 seconds.

The updates that had to be done at the beginning were often interrupted and you had to repeat them many times.

The touchscreen is not sensitive to operation (you do need to apply light pressure).

The camera is of very poor quality, but I don't need it.

Impact protection, very thin.

There's no screen protector.

Despite VIN recognition, you still have to select the vehicle (whether it's a station wagon, US version, or similar).

That's my experience so far, and these are the things I've noticed.

But for the $315 I paid, I find it unrealistic what it can do.

I'll definitely keep the device and use it long-term.

I think that's the only way to really tell.

How to Clone 2024 Toyota Hilux 8A Chip with Autel AT100 Chip

 We explore the capabilities of Autel’s new AT100 super chip by attempting to clone a 2024 Toyota Hilux key (Type H) using the Autel IM508 and XP400 Pro.

 

Step-by-Step Cloning Process

1. Reading the Original Key
  • First, the original Hilux key was read using VVDI, which identified it as an 8A transponder with the following details:
    • ID: 5DB 3A 8A4 39
    • Type: Cloneable 8A chip

  • Next, the same key was scanned with the Autel IM508 + XP400 to verify consistency.
    • The Autel system detected a similar 8A chip but displayed the data in a slightly different format.

2. Cloning with Autel’s AT100 Chip
  • Selected “Transponder Cloning” in the Autel IM508 menu.
  • Manually chose the 8A chip type (unlike VVDI, which does this automatically).
  • Followed the prompts to:
    • Insert the original key into the XP400’s slot.
    • Remove it and replace it with the blank AT100 chip.
3. Initial Failure & Retry
  • The first cloning attempt failed, possibly due to:
    • Improper chip positioning.
    • Communication lag between devices.
  • After repositioning the chip and retrying, the process succeeded.
4. Verifying the Cloned Key
  • Both the original and cloned keys were scanned again.
  • Confirmed that the clone had the same ID (5DB 3A 8A4 39) and functioned correctly.

Works Successfully – The AT100 chip can clone 8A transponders, including the 2024 Hilux key.

How to Add BMW X1 F48 2018 BDC Key by Autel IM508S

 2018 BMW X1 (F48) spare key. FEM module out and program key on bench using AUTEL IM508S + XP400 programmer + eeprom clip + GODIAG GT100 + FEM/BDC test platform.

Worst part was put FEM module back. 12V+ cable had less of space to plug in.

Procedure:
1. check via OBD if software is supported (YES),
2. check via OBD if there was Jailbreak done before (NO),
3. unplug battery negative terminal,
4. FEM removal,
5. Connect Autel+Programmer+GODIAG,
6. Key learning procedure (Smart selection – FEM/BDC – Key learning – On bench) and follow instruction,
7. Put FEM back,
8. Connect negative battery terminal,
9. Test key.
All done aprx. 2 hours.

Will Autel Clone Ford ID49 Key with AT100 Super Chip?

 Is it possible to clone Ford transponder keys with Autel KM100 using AT100 super chip, specifically the ID49 type, which is commonly found in newer Ford vehicles like the 2021 F-150. While the Autel KM100 supports a wide range of transponders (e.g., ID46, 4D, 4C, and even newer options like 70 and 83), the ID49 is notably absent from the available cloning options—despite being listed in the device’s menu.

 

Key Observations:
  1. ID49 Recognition: The tool successfully reads the ID49 transponder but does not offer a cloning option for it.
  2. Firmware Updates: Recent updates added support for other transponders (e.g., GM 4A, Volkswagen options), but ID49 remains unsupported.
  3. Future Possibilities: The mention of “such as” in the device’s menu suggests that ID49 support may be coming in a future update.

Workarounds and Alternatives

For now, users needing to clone or program Ford ID49 keys may need to:

  • Wait for Firmware Updates: Autel may release support for ID49 in upcoming updates.
  • Use Alternative Tools: Devices like the Xhorse Key Tool Max or Advanced Diagnostics’ T-Code Pro currently support ID49 cloning.
  • Manual Programming: For some vehicles, onboard programming (OBP) procedures may still work for adding new keys.

Final Thoughts

The Autel KM100 is a powerful tool, but its lack of ID49 cloning capability is a notable gap—especially for Ford vehicle owners and locksmiths. Keep an eye on Autel’s firmware releases, as this feature could be added soon.

Successfully added a spare key to a Porsche Cayenne 2020 MLB System using VVDI MLB Tool and VVDI Key Tool Plus.

 

Connect the Tools:
Start by connecting the VVDI MLB Tool with the VVDI Key Tool Plus.

Access the MLB Immobilizer System:
Navigate to the MLB Immobilizer Systems menu in the software and review the wiring diagram for proper setup.

Prepare the Original Key Board:
Disassemble the original key board and remote capacitors as indicated in the diagram. Connect the board to the MLB solder free adapter.

Collect Key Data:
Use the tools to collect the key data from the original key. Since Xhorse does not currently offer a Porsche-style MLB key, an OEM Porsche MLB key was used. Note that this process will deduct 200 remote points.

Calculate Immobilizer Data:
The system calculates the immobilizer data from the original key. Once the server calculation is successful, save the immobilizer data.

 You can unlock/renew Audi S5 5th generation immobilizer key with a Xhorse VVDI mini key tool.

Unlocking work takes only 15 minutes.

3. Remove the key board.

Xhorse Multi Prog vs Autel IM508 for BMW CAS3 Immobilizer

 The CAS3 (Car Access System) module is a critical component in BMW and MINI vehicles, responsible for managing the immobilizer and key recognition. When the CAS module fails, it can lead to issues such as the car starter not working, key recognition problems, or even water damage. In such cases, cloning the CAS module to a new one is often a faster and more cost-effective solution than repairing the original unit.

 

 

Locating the CAS Module
  • In BMW vehicles: The CAS module is typically located at the bottom left side of the steering wheel.

CAS modules can fail for various reasons, including electrical faults, water damage, or wear and tear. For example, in one case, the ED07 diode burned out, damaging the circuit track. While repairs are possible, cloning the module to a new CAS3 is often a quicker and more reliable solution.

Disassembling the CAS Module

Disassembling the CAS module is straightforward. The module is held together by plastic latches, with no bolts or sealant to remove. Once opened, the board is coated with a protective varnish, which can be easily removed using a specialized liquid like Mechanic.

Cloning the CAS3 Module

The cloning process is similar across tools like Autel and Multiprog. The general steps involve reading the data from the old module and writing it to the new one. Here’s a breakdown of the process using two popular tools:

  • Method 1: Solder wires to specific points on the board. This method is quick and straightforward, taking about 5 minutes.
  • Method 2: Use a special CAS3 adapter for a solder-free connection.
    MULTIPROG is known for its fast reading speed and user-friendly interface. It’s updated frequently, with the Xhorse team constantly adding new features.

Here shows method 1. Solder the wires as shown in the diagram. It takes 5 minutes and is not particularly difficult. MULTIPROG reads quite quickly. The wires are better than in Autel.

  • Autel offers flexibility, allowing you to work with either a computer or devices like the Autel IM508/IM508S/IM608.
  • The Autel IM508S requires an additional resistor for connection, though some users have reported success without it. PC software does not.
  • While Autel reads slightly faster than MULTIPROG, the difference is negligible. However, the PC version of Autel hasn’t seen updates in a while, and the IM508S requires an annual subscription for full functionality.

The Challenge with New Hyundai Keys

This particular job was the third Hyundai I had worked on in a week, with the other two being a 2022 Santa Fe and a 2023 Tucson. Both vehicles presented their own set of challenges, particularly when it came to programming and pulling the PIN codes. For the 2022 Santa Fe, I used the Auto Pro Pad to retrieve the PIN, while for the 2023 Tucson, I had to obtain the PIN directly from Hyundai. These experiences highlighted the importance of having the right tools and knowledge to tackle different scenarios.

Setting Up the Lonsdor K518 Pro

For the 2023 Santa Fe, I decided to use the Lonsdor K518 Pro, the same tool I had successfully used for the previous two vehicles. The process began by accessing the “Immo and Remote” section on the device and selecting Hyundai from the list of manufacturers. The next step was to read the PIN code (Read pin ID47 smart key), which is essential for programming the new smart key.

Reading the PIN Code

After selecting the appropriate model (in this case, the 2023 Santa Fe), the Lonsdor K518 Pro prompted me to turn the ignition on and off, open and close the driver’s door, and activate the hazard lights. These steps are designed to keep the body control module active, which is necessary for the device to communicate with the vehicle’s system. Despite some initial hiccups with the Wi-Fi connection, the device successfully pulled the PIN code after about 25 seconds.

Programming the Smart Key

With the PIN code in hand, the next step was to program the new smart key. It’s important to note that when programming new keys, all existing keys must be present, as any keys not programmed during this process will be erased from the vehicle’s system. In this case, the customer provided two keys, both of which needed to be programmed.

The Lonsdor K518 Pro guided me through the process, prompting me to confirm the PIN code and then prepare each key for programming. The device instructed me to press the start button within five seconds of confirming the PIN, and after a few moments, the first key was successfully programmed. The same process was repeated for the second key, which also programmed without any issues.

After programming, it’s crucial to test each key to ensure they work correctly. In this case, both keys were able to lock and unlock the vehicle, and the rear hatch opened as expected. While I didn’t test every feature of the key (as the customer had supplied the key itself), the primary functions worked perfectly, indicating a successful programming session.

Programming a smart key for a 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe using the Lonsdor K518 Pro is a straightforward process, provided you have the right tools and follow the steps carefully. This job was another win for the Lonsdor K518 Pro, which continues to prove its reliability in handling modern vehicle security systems.
