Have mb star sdconnect c4 2020.03 (both SSD & HDD version), when enter ewa-net to activate, get error ” unknown id”. How to fix?

Here’s the working solution:
Enter the Device Manager, uninstall the hidden NIC driver, restart ewa-net. (If you have no idea which are the virtual network card drivers that need to be uninstalled, Find the ones with # to uninstall.

Looking for the best Land Rover Discovery II diagnostic tools for the buck? Please read this article which put together many users’ feedback. They used Autel AP200, Foxwell NT530, Autel 619, Delphi DS150 knockoff, Nanocom, Veepeak OBDCheck BLE OBD2, Lemur BlueDriver etc.
 
  1. Autel AP200 app and Bluetooth OBD dongle
Some of the Brits here have been raving about the Autel AP200 app and Bluetooth OBD dongle for $70-ish. From reading the website, it looks like this AP200 app mimics there costly handheld Autel MaxiCOM MK808 Diagnostic Tool at $450.
Some of the LR3/Discovery 3 owners have stated they used this to sync new key fobs unlike the Foxwell that cannot do this…
 
  1. Foxwell NT530 / NT520
I just ordered a multi-system Foxwell NT530 so I can use it on several of my other vehicles as well. That will probably leave my iCarsoft LRII unnecessary.
 
I read the cautions about the Foxwell, but I didn’t order the version that people seem to have gone for on here — went with a higher-end model. Will have to do some testing to see how effective it is. The Rover is the first vehicle I’ve owned with an OBDII port that I’ve had to do any work on, but now that I have a couple of others in addition a multi-vehicle tool seemed to make sense.
 
Foxwell multi-vehicle tool. Requires a computer with Windows OS for software updates, but that’s the only downside I’ve found.
 
I use my NT510 more in my wife’s 2011 BMW X5 than my Disco 2.
 
Question: I can’t really recommend the Foxwell that I got (NT650) as anything all that special. It has deeper functions for some manufacturers and vehicles, but its specialty options for Rovers seems pretty limited. Can’t change adaptive settings, for example. There are other devices that do just as much on a Rover for less money.
Answer: What adaptive settings did you have in mind? I have Foxwell 520 and it resets most of the of stuff that I require…
What it can do:
read/clear all codes
activate all systems (yes, ABS, ACE, etc.)
read and program a new EKA code for your driver-side lock+key
program remote fob keys (well, maybe)
Change the VIN of your Disco2 recorded in your various ecus such as transmission, BCU, ECM, etc.
Clear all “adaptive” values such as your long term fuel values (extremely useful if you have changed any emissions components including O2’s, fuel injectors, spark plugs, etc.).

Question: Foxwell NT530 question: doesn’t recognize my ViN on D2 2003 and manual mode it says vin is invalid and ABS says no communications to SLABS even though my RWS Amigo sees it and clears codes… also cannot power-bleed with it…
Answer: You have to choose the Discovery 2 manually, it can’t automatically identify the VIN. Please confirm the path: LandRover–Manual selection–Discovery–1998-2004–ABS, if the path is correct but got “ABS says no communications” again, please feedback again.

I picked one up a long time ago for cheap.
It’s done basic functions for me – would be a home run to hear someone uses it burp the brakes..
You can just use speaker wire and a cheap switch to manually fire the ABS pump – no need for software. See below:

  1. Delphi DS150 knockoff
I am quite happy with my Delphi DS150 knockoff off. $34, will read and troubleshoot everything, will not program keys or ECU’s. I have used it on my Fords, BMW, Disco, basically everything.
 
Cons: It has special software, there is an excellent thread on it in this forum, you have to do a search.  the software SuperSport was sharing six years ago. The problem is that the last time I checked the link to download the software did not work.

Buy cheap, buy twice. Get a Nanocom and be done with it.
You’ll thank us later.
 
  1. Veepeak OBDCheck BLE OBD2 Bluetooth Scanner
– I bought this unit Veepeak OBDCheck BLE OBD2 Bluetooth Scanner
Then added this obdfusion app to my phone.
 
Cons: They looked promising but I couldn’t find any good app.
 
– I use it with an old MacBook with Win7 partition to troubleshoot friend’s problems on their cars. It can’t reprogram ECU or BCU’s but it’s good for reading and clearing codes and checking other electrical faults.

For just scanning codes and clearing SES lights I absolutely love my Lemur BlueDriver. No Pc or wires – just an app on your phone. It connects via Bluetooth. Always gets updates automatically so it’s always current. Used it on so many vehicles – worth every cent. Best $100 I ever spent…

Autel MX808 Scanner review on Toyota 4Runner 2015

My new tool arrived today: Autel MaxiCheck MX808!!

I am driving a 2015 4 Runner SR5. Just tinkering with it for a bit I already love it. Found several DTCs that did not trip the check engine light, so will need to investigate those (some SRS and ABS ones, as well as a few others). This thing gives a crap ton of info. Was watching the graphs of my A/F (O2) sensors, as I am fairly sure they are not running optimal. Did not see the voltage switching I think they should be at after throttle and return to idle. Going to research it more.

It showed me the current PSI reading in all four tires, plus the air temp in the tires (one DTC was in TPMS that I need to research), so I can see I want to air up one tire a bit. Reviewed the CAT sensor temps (two temps) so will research that to see what that is telling me about the status of my CAT. Looks like my MAF may be running a bit high. So much data that I now need to learn what the baseline/range values should be.

There is some awesome data I can capture while the engine is running and the tires moving. Will have to get my son to pilot while I check the values.

Of course I needed to update everything, so for the last two hours or so have been updating the firmware and all the modules. One year of updates comes with the purchase price, then it is over a $100 a year to keep updating (I think was the cost). You can run it without the updates, you just won't have the newer car info, bug fixes, things like that. The company said you can opt out of annual updates then jump back in later and just patch t all up then, so you don't have to update every year.

You jump into the Diagnostics app and do all the trouble codes and live data fun. You can also do a ton of service stuff. This tool is really an entry into pro/shop kind of functionality. This model is in the $400 range - you can get nicely into the four digit dollar zone on these. I can change several programming features of the car with this model. Going to have some fun!!

OBDSTAR X200 Pro Review on Maserati Service Reset

Question:
I’ve been looking for a OBD tool that would reset oil service reminder without dealer and many make the claim but most fail to do it.  The dealer in my area (Buffalo, NY) charges $450 for an oil change. I don’t want to pay the dealer to do it when its such an easy oil change.  Any recommendation?
 
 
Working experience with Foxwell scan tool:
1.)
I bought a foxwell nt520 pro but i can’t reset service interval on my QP 2007 Automatica. Autel MS906 as alternative is a bit expensive.
 
2).
I have researched quite a bit about small handheld devices that could reads a day clears codes for the GT there aren’t many except for those expensive units. While all regular OBDII will reads and clears engine codes (Check Engine Light). Many cases that reads other codes such as ABS, SRS, EPB, Light Control ECU, etc, etc. I end up bought the Foxwell NT-510 for the GT specifically. It does reads codes for multiple systems in the GT. Surprisingly. I found that some units advertised as it could read all Maserati cars reality is not. BTW the Foxwell NT510 cannot reset oil service lights.  I have the NT-510 unit for sale as I decided to acquired OE level diagnostic system for future use and business endeavor.
 
3).
NT530 only reads fault codes even WITH maserati license from foxwell. There is NO capability for writing service information on the QP (M139).

The X-200 i bought at $169, with free shipping via DHL from Hong Kong. I bought the EBP (electronic Parking Brake version), but the EPB isn’t functional on the Ghibli at this time. But the Oil Reset and OBD both work. I own the tool, and it works fine for OBD and resetting Oil Service Reminder. The EPB version doesn’t work on the newer Maseratis, but on the older Quattroporte (previous model), it does work.  EPB features is for VAG group as I can see.
From what I can find, the only other software or tool that will do this is the Leonardo (multi car version is US$30K, single car version US$5k), the TEXA for US$5k, or AutoEnginuity for US$2.8k (with all the necessary parts).
This was a huge hurdle, and I’m thrilled.

I received the OBDStar X200 Pro today and….it worked!!! I was able to reset my service indicator message and turn off the green service wrench in less than 15 seconds!!! This thing is the real deal!!!

The OBDSTAR x200 will will clear any light that comes on the dash and tell you what the reason for the light is. It has many functions which include resetting intervals and a normal OBD code reader/ clearer.

Got an OBDSTAR X200 from obdii365.com last week. Worked as advertised on my 2014 GT Sport Convertible. Was surprisingly easy for a rook like me, once I found the OBD port.
It resets to only the 12.5k mile interval, though. Didn’t see a way to customize.

The tool worked perfectly on my 2013 GT Convertible and I bought it specifically for resetting the service wrench symbol, as the local Maserati dealership won’t reset it unless they perform the maintenance.

I have a 2014 GT and my OBDStar X200 Pro does reset the oil service light.
Manual says “oil light/service reset” and “EPB (electronic parking brake).
Also pulls generic obd2 codes.

I just used mine to reset the light. It takes all of 1 minute.
What I did before this though was to reset the date in the MTC screen date/time settings to 1 year prior. The light comes on when either the miles run out or the time. Backing the year up 1 year eliminates the time causing the light to come on, but on my car at least, when the mileage ran out the light came on.
Next time I will just use the x200 and not bother to fiddle with the MTC date settings.

I can confirm now that the X-200 I bought off obdii365.com reset the maintenance data in less than 5 minutes.

I was able to reset the service wrench on 2017 Maserati Levante.
It does not list Levante in the menu, however I selected Ghibli and it worked.

OBDSTAR x-200 is a great, easy to use tool! tried it to reset service light on a 2016 Maserati Quattroporte,works great.

I’ve read where the OBDStar X200 PRO would do a maintenance reset on some Maserati models. I have a 2012 Maserati Gran Turismo Sport. After trying several different models at my local garage, I purchased the obdstar unit. It worked perfectly on resetting my maintenance icon. I wanted to let everyone know who has this particular Maserati that it does work. I hope this helps.

Someone wonder if Yanhua mini acdp do JLR locked kvm’s, some says 100% yes, someone says yes but need skills, someone says tried with no lucky. This article tell the truth and share the guide.

Make sure you’re using the correct frequency keys though. I had one wrongly labeled as 433 when it was 315 and that caused problems.
Only discovered when I went to do it with CGDI and it spotted the wrong frequency. ACDP doesn’t check obviously.
 
 
Feedback 3: with no luck
The constant warnings about poor wifi when its a full strength, it still can’t crack encrypted KVM’s.
It struggles to even read them.
The software constantly locks making you have to close the app and power down the interface to reset it.
 
 
Yanhua chief engineer replied:
  1. Poor wifi signal will lead it can’t crack encrypted KVM, please try mobile hotspot connection.
  2. If the KVM was decrypted unsuccessfully, please dismantle the interface board and reinstall, then decrypt it again, this job is safe, don’t worry the data will get lost.
  3. “The software constantly locks making you have to close the app and power down the interface to reset it.” please go to “setting” to “click on “clear cache” to solve.

Which BMW tool can read write and change ISN?

Here is all about BMW ISN (DME DDE EWS CAS).
 
 
ISN is not a software, but rather it is the immobilizer key code that the EWS or CAS module (the immobilizer security module). Newer cars’ ISNs use a starting code that is stored in the DME (or DDE if a diesel car) and then change the code (rolling code) with each successful engine start. The EWS/CAS and DME/DDE stored ISN must match, or else the car will not start. There is no BMW software that does anything with the ISN, besides the first time DME to EWS/CAS pairing (on virgin DME or virgin EWS)
There are aftermarket (non-BMW) software that help with ISN identification and maybe even modification, but this is done after reading a module’s EEPROM or flash memory. This requires very intensive knowledge of electronics, and some expensive interfaces.
Some ECUs have the ISN in a OTP section (one time programming) of the memory (ex: MSD80 DME of the 335i), so essentially that ECU is married for life, you cannot edit anything to that ISN. There are very expensive interfaces that can edit the EWS or CAS to match the used DME, but this is besides the point.
Those interfaces include genuine AVDI, FVDI, or Autohex.
And if you are talking about a little piece of software called “BMW ISN”, this is an aftermarket program that goes together with yet another expensive interface, BMW Explorer or Autohex ii, that can edit the ISN in the EWS or CAS. Mostly useless without proper interfaces and tools.

BMW ISN Reading and writing can be used from Autohex II software: CAS DME ISN Manager, This advanced function can do the following:
  • Read and Write ISN for CAS1, CAS2, CAS3 and CAS3+ (2 bytes ISN, 4 digits).
  • Read and Write SK (ISN 128 bits, 32 digits) for CAS1, CAS2, CAS3 and CAS3+.
  • Read all DME ISN for E series (2 bytes ISN, 4 digits).
  • Read all DME SK (ISN 128 bits, 32 digits) except MSS65 in E series, it supports SK writing to most of these DMEs.
  • Read most DDE ISN (2 bytes ISN, 4 digits) in E series (2003-2006).
  • Read and Write All DDE SK (ISN 128 bits, 32 digits) in E series (2006 and up).
  • Read ISN for EGS 6HP in E Series, and automatically matching with CAS.
  • Read and Write BMW ISN for most of BOSCH DMEs in F series.
Read and Write ISN in CAS:
Some CAS3+ part numbers require CAS Firmware before you can read/write BMW ISN. You will get a message from Autohex Software to notify you about using this function before you do any operation in CAS ISN.
To do BMW ISN Editing for CAS: from CAS DME ISN Manager, select option 1, you will get a window like below:

CAS ISN: is 4 bytes (8 digits) ISN, the last 4 digits represent the DME ISN, the DMEs that have only 4 digits ISN (like MSV70,ME9N45,DDE 5,…) are considered old, while the total 8 digits represent the 6HP EGS ISN.
CAS SK: is 16 byte (32 digits, 128 bits) ISN, this is the new ISN used in all new DMEs and DDEs (MSV80, MSD81, MSS60, MEV17_2, MEVD172Y,…), It also represent the ISN in 8HP EGS.
From this window you can save this info into file, as well as load saved ISN from a DME or CAS and write it into the current CAS.
Read and Write BMW ISN in DME and DDE:
As described before, there are two types of BMW DME/DDE ISN, short and long.
Autohex II supports following ISN:

The 4 digits DME ISN is read only, while the 32 digits ISN (SK) is mostly read/write in E series.
And DME ISN (SK) is read/write in all supported DMEs in F series.

Changing ISN in BMW and Mini DDE/DME

In BMW E series and Mini cooper you will see a window looks like above, A notable ISN Mode can be seen (ISN Mode: Read / Write), while the read/write ISN is supported in all DMEs in F series.
This means that Autohex II is almost able to change the DME ISN, this is a very important feature because we will not need to touch the CAS ISN.
The best practice when working on DME/DDE ISN is to avoid (if applicable) changing BMW ISN in CAS because:
  • You may have to do CAS Firmware before you can write ISN into CAS.
  • Some CAS part numbers (938XXXX, 939XXXX) don’t accept long ISN editing, only ISN reading is allowed.
  • If the car is equipped with an EGS 8HP which shares the same ISN (SK) in DME and CAS, it will be locked when you modify CAS ISN to be matched with DME/DDE (as a result EGS 8HP ISN differs from CAS ISN).
If you see the status of ISN Mode is Read/Write you can match ISN as follow:
  • Read ISN from old DME/DDE, and save it as a file ( see above picture).
  • Replace the defected DME/DDE with the donor.
  • Write the saved ISN from original DME/DDE into this Ecu.
  • Go to Indiv programming and program the Ecu (optional, or you have to at least do coding).
  • You are done! Start the car.
In the case of DME is read only (MSD81, MSD85,…), there is a solution to modify BMW ISN in these modules via ISN Tricore boot mode using Autohex II tool.
